vegan isn't good, because you need meat, fish, etc not often, and not even near as much as most eat (250-500gram per week) the one thing one should cut out is mostly milk (butter, yoghurt and so on)

To reduce meat consumption, you can keep the same structure to your dinners but replace the meat with marinaded tofu or tempeh. That's often what I do for dinner and there are lots of easy baked tofu/tempeh recipes out there on the internet! One of my favorites is balsamic maple tempeh.

Honestly, I think it's better to just learn how to cook properly. If you learn how to use the right spices and the correct cooking methods, you can make fantastic, healthy and NORMAL meals (like a good steak with sauce, a vegetable stir fry and a salad), instead of something that seems like the diet of someont who just got out of the hospital after a surgery. Homemade food is always better. It's either healthier, cheaper or tastier.

Can anyone explain how limiting eating animals is better for the planet? Don't we need animals to refertilize the topsoil to even produce the nutrient-enriched plants that we eat? If we limit the animals we eat, yet increase our plant consumption, isn't that not sustainable because of the nutrient deficiencies from not replenishing the soil after farming? Isn't this why farmers use cow manure to enrich the plants with nitrogen?

There’s ac no point having smoothies. The oxidisation of the fruit and veg after 30 mins decreases the nutritional density of these foods. Sugar increases. Just eat the fruit and veg and you’ll find it’ll be much better for your body — or read up on this and just see what you make of it, but I too was super surprised and fascinated by this x

I think it is very interesting, but intermittent fasting is not for me. I don't have diabetes, but if i do not eat every 5 hours during the day, i collapse with my whole body trembling. That's because my bloodsugarlevels drop drastically and without warning after a certain period of time. Otherwise I'm healthy, eating mostly plantbased with the knowledge about nutrition. So far no doctor could explain it to me, but also they have found no issues with my health. What i do love is mealprepping. Healthy stews, currys, chili sin carne, pizza ... Yes, pizza can be healthy if you use the right ingredients. When i want to snack, it's either dark chocolate or selfmade popcorn. But i also do use the trick with drinking water first and waiting for the craving to fade. =)

@Aidan Jay Mueller I won't argue that the number of experts that support your position aren't in greater numbers than those that support mine, but I also see a damaged incentive landscape and controlled institutions that are directly responsible for this, so I'm not conceding on that alone. I'm not talking about anything that requires unfounded speculation either. The history of Proctor and Gamble leading the American shift from animal fat to vegetable oil after the invention of Crisco is a perfect example of corporate disinformation that was used to demonize saturated fat, and it's influence is still felt today.

@Delinquents that's not just my understanding of it, it's thousands upon thousands, or even millions, of experts understanding as well. Experts who spend their life studying and researching what we should and shouldn't eat. I used to eat a lot of meat and other animal products. I loved them. They are very, very tasty. But, I followed the science and I changed my diet and I'm glad to say that I am much, much healthier now. In my conversations with people, I urge them to try a whole foods plant based diet and see how they feel. We have an epidemic of people dying far too early from preventable diseases. All I'm trying to do is help my fellow humans, the planet and, of cause, the beautiful, innocent, animals we share this wonderful earth with too.

@Delinquents not true. There are so, so many studies on meat and other animal products. Forget about the epidemiology, it's highly unlikely that it would be bad for all studies. Meta-analysis, control trials, etc. The science is clear. Let's stick to what we know about saturated fat, trans fat, cholesterol, IGF 1, cancerous hormones, animal protein, etc. For a healthy diet, it's recommended to exclude or limit animal foods and get most, or all, of your calories from whole plant foods.

There is misconception that you can just replace meat with vegetables, easy peasy, like drinking 1l of water instead of soda, that’s absolutely not true. when speaking about volume and how much you get from eating that’s 100 g of meat you can’t just replace with 100 g of vegetables and expect the same nutritions. Second not everyone wants to eat vegetables all the time so just because you can replace something with something else it doesn’t mean you have to, and guilt tripping someone with ‘ but I’m saving the planet” is hypocritical when you can help way more by not buying unnecessary items or driving gas car

Hi Matt, nice video! Since I really enjoy your videos and the advice your giving, this time I’m giving you some (unasked) advice. Since this topic is my expertise as a Health Scientist and I am honestly curious if you’ve thought about the following: - for average people drinking the fruit/veggies in smoothies doesn’t saturate as much as eating them, since saturation is based on the time it takes before the food gets into your stomach. This in combination with the fibres that are torn apart by the machine and the vitamin C that disappears after sitting in the fridge after a while. The benefits of eating and chewing the fruit are not the same for drinking them. Juices contain the same amount of sugar compared to sodas. - have you thought about the environmental impact of eating the high amount of meat that you’re showing? Have you ever considered to replace a part of daily meat intake by plant protein, such as legumes? You’ve really read a lot about the scientific background of your eating routine, but perhaps these notes will make you consider to improve it even more. Good luck from the Netherlands!

Problems with this video: - Tuna: high in mercury - use sardines or non predatory fish instead. - Steak: Not minimalist, 50,000 litres of water to produce 1kg. vs 4,000 to produce 1kg of chicken. - Protein shake: Full of processed shit. Get superficially bulky. Overall Matt's just not a minimalist. He lives the life of a superficial minimalist with Americano culture. Doesn't question certain things.
