Why dont you just stay with your actual phone, stop using social media and use is as a tool. I belive we are able to stop scrolling, there is no need to downgrade to a flip phone.. does not make sence. Bought a Nokia 2720 flip (which has WhatsApp!) 1 month ago as a last resort before getting therapy for a major depression I had for 2 years. Also stopped watching dirty stuff on the web. Turns out life is much better without it. This technology is too powerful for humanity (for now) and deteriorates the lives of so many people who don't even care that they are getting tracked every second.

I have a pretty old phone, i guess that it will last longer than the whatsapp compatibility for it. My plan is to get a fairphone after that. New tech only when needed. Now i feel intruiged to get a flip phone, but during the pandemic not having whatsapp or telegram, i would be completely cut off from my friends. I still want to text. But my super old phone with lousy camera and 8Gb storage - thats all i need. 😊 No instagram, reddit or social media even fits on it. 👍🏻

I actually have a old phone the Nokia 105 (which is actually only 3 years old but it has no touch screen and no internet) and Ido not regret any single euro that I invested in it, I have less head ache, my eyes burn less, I use my brain more even if it s just to take a note of the time schedule of the bus (instead of using the internet), I I am less tired , I can still use my sd card on it to listen to music and I dont scroll on Fb or Insta to watch stuff that doesnt enrich me physically or mentally , my biggest advice: if you do not anything during your free time as a hobby that doesnt enrich or improve your mental or physical health, dont do it, I mean like instead of reading memes, read a book, instead of watching a transformation of a guy from fat to fit , go running, instead of watching fail videos when you are stonned with friends (which I used to do a lot) play chess with your friends or cards or talk about politics, society, ... Amen

When I went to Uni in the Uk (late 1990’s) there was one pay phone in the halls. Either that or you had to walk down the hill to a public pay phone. It worked, but what we have now is much better. It is true that we met up in those days without phones, but if someone had a problem and couldn’t turn up it was impossible to find out what was wrong. I grew up without a home phone. When my Mum’s Aunt died in another part of London (back in the late 1980’s), they had to get in touch with the Police and they sent a Policewoman to our house to let us know! I think we can all manage with technology if we just regulate how we use it. I use all kinds of tech and studied Engineering, so I love machines, but also read, garden, etc. I did make a choice to get rid of Facebook, WhatsApp and such because they brought no real additional value to me. I haven’t missed them so far. I also miss my old Razr flip phone...beautiful phone 😂

I tried downgrading, but I went only with 2 or 3 days before I need navigation and went back to my smartphone. I thought about it...and come up with going only by smartwatch with eSIM. You can make calls, have basic navigation, even receive messages and spotify + you have steps count which is keeping me accountable for my daily activity. What you cannot go on facebook, reddit, twitter, youtube and browse.

YouTube is the only social media I have any more. Deleting social media and not following the news as close as I had been Felt like getting out of a bad relationship.

this is a necessity for the younger generations! the phones destroy relationships with people and i mean real relationships not just streaks or whatever. im 17 and have switched for 2 ish months now, it has made quality of life indescribably better.

Believe it or not. I’d gladly downgrade to a flip phone. Unfortunately I’m 17 and our entire “school-life” is based on these phones. Especially now, in quarantine. It’s exhausting sitting in front of the PC and Phone the whole day while we have splendid weather outside. Beside of that - I spend a lot of time on WhatsApp even though I don’t want to contact a person. A waste of time basically. I’m pretty sure I’m gonna downgrade after I finished school. Ya, Im definitely switching from a smartphone (hand held laptop) back to a flip phone.

I don't think I'd switch to a flip phone, but I have deleted all social media and have been deleting apps I don't use, unsubscribing from emails, and deleting useless accounts I've had because it was taking up way too much time and getting constant notifications of shit I've found useless has definitely been a burden in my everyday life. This has helped a lot and I'm still working on bare-boning my phone every day. There are still many useful things I use my phone for such as banking and maps. Therefore, deleting social media and organizing my inbox and taking control of my notifications and stuff has really helped tremendously.

I find myself not looking my phone as much since the pandemic started. I think it's simply because of the constant repeat of depressing information being released on common social media (FB, Twitter, IG, etc). I do spend more time doing productive things on my Mac and Surface - yet I can't seem to break the addiction to YouTube and streaming services.

i haven’t decide to downgrade to a flip phone yet, but i have deactivated instagram which i found to be the main source of my anxiety and depression because of social comparison. i also set up a small window in which i could use my phone ( 1pm to 8pm) and in the that window, i have set up my phone to only allow me to be in other distracting apps like twitter, snap etc. for 15 minutes

I deleted facebook from my phone and that's a best thing I ever did! I use Instagram but this account I created without family and friends, I only follow people who inspires me, not make me jealous lol. I guess only thing on my phone which eats my time is Youtube, I am gonna delete it now :)
